Insurance Adjusters are NOT the same as Public Adjusters. Insurance Adjusters work for the insurance company and their job is assess the claim in a way that covers the policy (usually at a minimum) and maintains the best interest of insurance company (meaning, representing THEM, NOT YOU).

A Public Adjuster is the opposite– their job is to represent YOU, the homeowner, in a way the looks out for YOUR best interest and helps you get the MOST out of your damage claim (not the bare minimum, like the Insurance Adjuster)

Until a disaster happens, claim issues are not something a person would pay attention to. Also, people are under the false impression that the adjuster for the insurance company is their advocate, ensuring a full, maximized pay-out from a claim. That is why expert public adjusters are pro-active in reaching out to offer needed services to people suffering a recent property loss.

Public adjusters are licensed in most states and subject to strict laws governing their services and ethics. So make sure your public adjusters are members of the National Association of Public Insurance Adjusters (NAPIA).
